This bullet and the red crush rib sabot loads much easier than the popular short black sabot and the .452 XTP bullet, but still requires firm pressure to load and seat. The 24-inch barreled T/C .50 Strike from which this scope was taken had been sighted to print 110-grains of Blackhorn 209 and the 300-grain Scorpion PT Gold "on" at 100 yards.

I'm going to order a pack of the 300 grains (approx $15 for 12) and see how they shoot out of my TC Omega pushed by 110 grains of BH209, which is the recommended bullet and load for the Omega.

Web30 Dec 2009 · I used the Scorpion pt gold 260/45cal with the crush ribbed sabot,with 777 loose this year for the first time.They shot better out of my ph than anything i have tryed.4 deer all perfect shots,the farthest shot was only 100 yards.But i will use them from now on.Never recovered a bullet.Glad for the good shots, but would have liked to see one. The XTP bullet is one of my favorites in any caliber. I shoot the 300gr XTP in both .44 magnum and in .444 Marlin. I've never used either Elk hunting (180gr .30-06). But I have used it on Whitetails, Mulies, and hogs.
